Two Remarkable Tenants – Midland Lodge

The first tells of Benjamin Stone, Sutton Coldfield’s first Mayor’s, involvement with The Vesey Club and Midland Lodge, and the succession as a tenant of the Lodge by Albert Wood, whose interest lay in the formation of an Alpine Rock Garden there in the late 1800s!

Personal Recollections of the Upper Burmah Campaign 1886-7

The second article was originally written by Richard Holbeche in the late 1880s following his Regiment’s time in Burmah. It has now been transcribed and illustrated to give some insight into the conditions he experienced.
