Notes regarding use of Photographs and Spreadsheet
These photographs (which can be enlarged) of the Sutton Coldfield Valuation Map (1857) were taken in 2025 just prior to the removal of the map, along with the rest of the Local Studies and Archive Material formerly in Sutton Coldfield Library, to Birmingham Archives Department. Their Catalogue reference of the actual map is not yet known.
This link, however, will take you to further information about the Map on this website.

A Spreadsheet, compiled from the schedule produced with the map, was prepared by Don McCollam and Marian Baxter in 2017, a remarkable undertaking which took over three years to complete.
That Spreadsheet can be viewed with the help of the photographs of the map herewith. By using the plot numbers on the map, you will be able to find the names of owners, occupiers, location, details of buildings, quantities, area of land and values of the plots.
If required, each column of the Spreadsheet can be sorted, so that the plot numbers can be rearranged numerically, making the plots easier to find. Please note that plots are sometimes shared by several occupiers and are therefore referred to, for instance, as pt303, in which case these numbers follow at the end of the plot numbers column.
Please note that the live Excel Spreadsheet for Sutton Coldfield Property Valuation in 1857 is not suitable for viewing on small screens or phones.
